Fargo Season 2 One Minute Review

“Fargo” is a dark comedy–crime drama television series set in the late 70s based on a true story. This is a great season that adds another interesting and violent story that tops its first season. “Fargo” is not a prequel to its first season but rather an original story. The bulk of the series shows a bloody turf war because of two family incidents.

The series revolves around the most prominent crime family in Fargo, North Dakota. With “Fargo” moving to the 70s you get to see the gas shortage and people dealing with the aftermath of Vietnam. I think it was a great idea to go to the 70s to change from the other times when they weren’t set in the present times.

Like the first season, the show gives nods to the 1996 film “Fargo.” The TV show gives the idea of there being extraterrestrial life. This is a weird addition, because it was never mentioned in the TV show or the movie. There has been many theories to why there are aliens mentioned in the show but because of the time period and the actual true story that people believed they saw aliens.

The series follows many people throughout its 10 episode run. You get to see the Gerhardt family fight for what they think should be held by them. You also follow the husband and wife that set off the chain of events that start the main conflict. The show also follows a detective trying to figure out who committed the crimes that started the war between the Gerhardt family and a Kansas City gang. I liked there being many different characters to look at the events that happen rather than the last season where the show only followed two or three characters.

If you’re a fan of the first season or the 1996 movie, you may enjoy a different spin on the series.
