Thomas Dolan, Staff Writer
With 2020 nearing its end, we look into some of the most memorable movies produced. Below are four movies that have been reviewed by us here at The Mirror.
1917
“1917” is an action-packed movie about World War I. It takes place in France with a lot of gunshots and bombs going off all around the 2 soldiers and it makes you feel like they could get shot at any moment. The movie is about two British soldiers named Schofield and Blake that are sent out to cancel a fail attack that would lead to 1600 British deaths with Blake’s brother being one of them. The actors in 1917 were amazing and the way they acted made you feel like you were at war with them. The way the actors carelessly walk by dead bodies washed up shows what war can do to you and how that can become a normal sight to some...
Resistance
The movie Resistance takes place in France in 1938. It is about a former mime named Marcel Marceau who eventually joins the resistance against the Nazis and teams up with the Girl and Boy scouts to save thousands of war orphans in World War II. Jesse Eisenberg is a great actor and some of the movies he’s in like The Social Network fit his character perfectly. I am a big fan of him and I thin...
The Trial of the Chicago 7
Trial of the Chicago 7 is a movie based on a true story that takes place in the late ’60s during a trial of seven people who were accused of conspiracy inciting a riot. The 7 people who were accused of inciting riots were because of the Vietnam war starting and partially because of Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination. I think Jeremy strong did a fantastic job playing Jerry Rubin did a very good job portraying the hippie aspect of his character. I think he fits in well with the character. He is a guy who tries to fight for peace and anti-war although some of the protests become escalated. The Judge also plays his role perfectly. He conveys real emotions in the watcher which is a sign of a great actor. The thing I liked about the movie was the ending of the trial. Tom Hayden states that 4,752 U...
2067
2067 is about our future Earth becoming unlivable. There is an international oxygen crisis due to there being absolutely no trees. Motherless and fatherless Ethan Whyte is their only hope at survival. Before his dad died he was working on a time machine that gave them the ability to travel 407 years into the future. Ethan risks his life through this time machine to save his dying planet by gaining scientific and technological advancements from the future for the oxygen crisis. To be completely honest I don’t think a lot of the actors did very well in the movie. I got a feeling most of them felt like they did not want to be a part of this movie at all. A lot of them spoke with a monotone voice with little to no emotion. T...
