For the first time ever, the school will field a Mock Trial team. The team is preparing for their first meet versus Cor Jesu and SLUH in late October.

“We are brand new so we are figuring it out,” Sothers said. “It’s gonna be a learning process but I have a lot of talented seniors that are very gung-ho.”

Senior Captain Connor Goodman brought up the idea of starting a team to Sothers last year.

“I thought it’d be a great way for people to explore their interests,” Goodman said. “We have a bunch of really smart, capable guys on the team so I expect to do pretty well.”

Practice days are Monday evenings, Thursdays after school, and Fridays before school. So far most of the people who have joined are seniors, so Sothers encourages underclassmen to join so the team will be able to go on for years to come. If interested see Sothers in room 210.

“It’s great critical thinking skills and it’s great for public speaking,” Sothers said. “If anybody has an interest in the legal profession this would be a great way to check that out and see if you have an interest in that.”
