The Black Student Union (BSU) Mixer will take place on Saturday, February 22nd in the school cafeteria in efforts for students to relax and have a fun time. Students are encouraged to invite any female friends.
“It’s always fun to see guys in a different light,” Director of Diversity and Inclusion Dr. Cox said. “It’s an opportunity to see what guys are like when they’re just being themselves, which is kind of fun to see.”
The tickets cost $10 and can be found and bought on the ticket box office on the school website. There will be no theme for this mixer, so students are available to dress in any appropriate attire they desire.
“The purpose and the mission of the BSU is directly in alignment with what we do as a school,” Dr. Cox said. “Whenever you can get guys that have a further connection and brainstorm, it feeds the larger mission of the school.
This will be the 2nd year of the BSU Mixer, as the school attempts to bring more mixers to the school landscape.
“It’s a variety of different types of people just chilling, playing games and stuff like that,” BSU student member Josiah Houston said. “It was just like a cool, chill environment.”
Students and females of any race or group are encouraged to come out, have a fun time, and support the school’s brotherhood.
“The reality is, since some people see that it’s a BSU mixer, they’re going to think you have to be black to go, but that’s not the reality,” Dr. Cox said. “The reality is it’s meant to be community building and it’s meant to be fun.”
