Resistance

The movie Resistance takes place in France in 1938. It is about a former mime named Marcel Marceau who eventually joins the resistance against the Nazis and teams up with the Girl and Boy scouts to save thousands of war orphans in World War II.

Jesse Eisenberg is a great actor and some of the movies he’s in like The Social Network fit his character perfectly. I am a big fan of him and I think most of the movies he acts in fit his personality perfectly. This movie for me, however, was a lot different. I think there were a lot of better actors than Jesse to play Marcel Marceau. I don’t think Jesse was the best fit for this role despite him being a great actor.

One thing I loved about this movie is their getaways after fighting the Nazi soldiers. It is thrilling and adrenaline rushing to watch. It is also cool to see they have so many other people around their city secretly helping them get away by doing different things such as them parking into a mini garage and then others covering the entrance up with a street food stand. Another thing I liked about this movie was that Marcel Marceau saw the importance of making kids laugh during the trying times of war and this put his mime skills to good use.

A lesson I learned from this story is that during trying times kids still need to laugh and have a regular childhood and I think it is important for them to even during times of war. Marcel is really good at this, he uses simple things around him like matches and pieces of food to make scenes that seem like they’re straight from a cartoon, distracting the kids from what is going on outside. This is a really beautiful thing.

I think a lot of people who are interested in people’s lives in France during World War II would like this movie a lot. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good movie about this time period. I don’t think I would recommend it to anyone who is sensitive to this sort of stuff. This movie is rated R because of gruesome violence. All in all, I would say this is a really good movie.
