“IT” movie review

Based off Stephen King’s novel “IT”, “IT” is blowing up theaters

Spencer Caldwell, Staff Writer

“It” is that scary. The movie “IT”, directed by Andes Muschietti, is the modernization of the Stephen King’s novel “It”. The movie follows seven young friends on their summer adventure of finding Bill’s Denbrough’s missing brother Georgie. They begin to be terrorized by an evil, shape shifting clown that comes to the town to feed off the children every 27 years. The friends try to overcome their fear of the killer clown to defeat him and get back the missing children.

The movie is overall fantastic: it keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire movie and it has you saying “don’t go in there” or “do not do that”, when a character decides to make a decision. The movie does a really good job of adding a horror factor. The movie is mostly horror but the movie also adds a little bit of a comedy factor by adding the typical teenager humor to the movie.
Personally, I would recommend this movie to teens and up (pg-13). I do not recommend the movie to anyone that is under the age of 13 but even if you do not like horror movies, I recommend you try to watch this movie.

The movie deserves a 10/10 for its balance of comedy and horror, it is very scary and keeps the watcher emotionally engaged the entire movie.
