Photo Tour: Spring break in St. Louis
March 9, 2017
Spring break in St. Louis can be just as much fun as anywhere else with the right travel guide. Knowing that a large chunk of the student body is staying home for break, the staff created a Spring break itinerary to help all spring breakers at home do just that.
Saturday: spend a day in Forest Park
Brendan Johnson
There are too many things to do in forest park to cover in just a couple of hours. It is ok if you pick and choose what museums and attractions you want to visit. The zoo and boathouse are a personal favorite. So, pack a lunch, have a picnic with a view in front of the art museum and dedicate the day to hanging around forest park.
Sunday: hang out around the Delmar Loop
The Loop is a magical place. It has one of the most unique and exciting crowds of people in all of St. Louis, and the restaurants and stores are just like the people. It is the ideal place for a night out during Spring break.
Monday: take a trip to Dave & Buster’s
Dave and Buster’s is the real deal. This seemingly mature version Chuck-E-Cheese is not light on the pocket, however. So, be prepared. It is a fun place to go with friends, girlfriend or even your family. It will not matter who you are with when you are knee-deep in arcade tickets.
Tuesday: visit Laumeier Sculpture Park
The more “cultured” spring breaker will enjoy a trip to Laumeneir Sculpture park. The park is an open area with various sculptures scattered throughout. It is a lot more fun than it sounds, even though you (technically) are not allowed to climb on the sculptures.
Wednesday: explore downtown Kirkwood
Downtown Kirkwood is a St. Louis favorite. The myriad of coffee shops, boutiques and restaurants make it the perfect place to look around and try something new. Get yourself some shaved ice from the Tropical Moose, walk around with some friends, and see what there is to see.
Thursday: hang out at Creve Coeur Lake
On a nice day, Creve Coeur lake is the place to be. It is about the closest thing to a beach that you can get in St. Louis. You will find runners and bikers along the walking path that surrounds the lake, and kayakers and paddle boarders in the water. The gazebo on the beach has everything you will need for an hourly rent. The lake always makes for a good time with friends and family.
Friday: explore the City Museum
The city museum offers a whole new world for visitors to immerse themselves in. Kids are not he only ones that can enjoy the scrapyard playground or labyrinth of caverns there. If you have not been before, make it your goal this break to change that.
Saturday: visit the Science Center
Even though learning might be the last thing anyone wants to do over Spring break, the St. Louis Science Center is still a must visit. It may only entertain for a few hours, but it is a great place to go to for anyone looking to get out of the house.
