Miller Signs Baseball Letter Of Intent To Stanford

Senior Erik Miller signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Stanford today.  He is the only De Smet baseball player to sign in the early signing period this year.  Miller made it to the final cuts of the 18 and under U.S. national team this summer. He now has his sights set on a career at Stanford.

“It’s a good combination between the athletics and academics and I have always wanted to go there as a kid,” Miller said. “I couldn’t say no.”

The Stanford Baseball program has qualified for the NCAA college world series 16 times, winning two titles along the way.

“When they started contacting me and calling me it was a surreal experience that I might actually get to go there and play,” Miller said. “Competing for a national title and further my education there because of the higher standards they set there.”

Stanford has a history of taking players to the major leagues. 26 players from the program have been drafted by Major League Baseball in the last four years, including Cardinals outfielder Stephen Piscotty.
