De Smet met its goal for the Big Draw for the second year in a row. The 6,259 tickets (8.3 per man) sold exceeded the 5,984 ticket (8 per man) goal.

This was a good year compared to years prior because of the fashion that the tickets were sold in. On Friday going into the weekend, sales were behind the pace they should have been on to make the goal. This was especially scary because weekend sales have been historically bad for the Big Draw.

“Going into the weekend, I was definitely concerned,” Science Department chair Gene Bender said. “I was nervous.”

This year though, sales not only went up on the weekend, but also met and exceeded the goal over the weekend almost an entire day before the deadline. In years past, sales have gone down to the final hours on the last night.

“I was really surprised that Monday was as good of a day as it was,” Bender said. “Typically on a weekend we might sell 200 tickets, 150 tickets; On Monday we sold 560 tickets.”

The 10 winners were:

  1. Anthony Vaughn- sold by Eric Lovelace
  2. Christopher Shannon- sold by Nolan Shannon
  3. Cheryl Hanson- sold by Nick Hanson
  4. Kristie Dolan- sold by Dominic Dolan
  5. Renee LaBarge- sold by Alex LaBarge
  6. Melissa Paz- Sold by Joe Lane
  7. Bill and Kerry Young- sold by Matthew Young
  8. Amy Schnell- sold by Zach Jones
  9. Mary Mills- sold by Stephen Baxendale
  10. Andrew Sullivan- sold by Joseph Ressel

The top seller this year was sophomore Alex Roehrig with 99 tickets sold. He was followed up by Cameron Range with 59, Dominic Dolan with 51, Nick Koenig with 46 and Jackson Ullmann who sold 44 tickets.
