The Christmas season is almost upon us, but there is still a holiday before Christmas everyone seems to forget: Thanksgiving. It seems like every year Christmas lights start to go up earlier, with stores already putting up their decorations.

When you put your decorations up before Thanksgiving is just like forgetting about it because you are moving on to the next holiday. It seems like people get too wrapped up in buying gifts and receiving gifts for Christmas that they just forget about Thanksgiving. It is a lot more fun to get presents than not. Lots of people will admit that, but when you forget about Thanksgiving you also forget about the meaning of it.

Thanksgiving is all about getting together with your family and being thankful. To be thankful for all the blessings you have received in life. It is arguably one of the most important holidays when you think about it. It feels like you are insulting Thanksgiving when you put your lights up before it.

Another reason to not put Christmas decorations up before thanksgiving is so you don’t get sick of them by Christmas. Seeing the same decorations up for months gets boring. It feels like when they go up too early your excitement kind of goes away by the time Christmas comes.

In the end you can do what you want with your Christmas lights, but this is why you should wait. After all, it’s not even December yet!
