New wrestling coach Dr. Aedryan Cox talks with all of the returning wrestlers May 5, after being introduced by athletic director Kevin Roberts.

The search is over. Athletic director Kevin Roberts introduced Dr. Aedryan Cox today as the new wrestling coach to all the underclassmen wrestlers.

“I have pure excitement towards my new job, and move forward here,” Cox said. “Teaching and wrestling is where my passions lie and this is really what I want to be doing.”

Cox has a doctorate from Lindenwood University, and has been head football athletic trainer at Lindenwood, and has been around all types of sports before getting this job. Cox will be teaching in the science department this fall.

“Coach Cox’s reputation as a wrestler, and the wrestling community supported him so much, I just kept hearing tremendous things about him, that lead to him getting the job,” Roberts said. “I’m overjoyed. It’s tough to replace Coach [Colby Robinson], but he will continue what coach Rob started with the wrestling program.”

Cox has been wrestling since he was six. He placed twice at state while wrestling for Columbia Hickman High School.  He earned all-American and academic all-American honors while wrestling at Lindenwood. Cox’s younger brother is 3x national champion and Olympic bronze medalist, J’den Cox.

“I think coach Cox will bring a lot of intensity and enthusiasm to the team,” sophomore Mike Cross said. “The goals I have for coach Cox are to hold us to the same expectations as Rob did, and to coach us to the best of our and his abilities.”
