This is MySparta

Brendan Johnson, Editor-in-Chief

There’s an app for nearly everything nowadays. Some apps are able to order fast food, while others help find the best deals or the perfect date. Now there’s even an app that organizes everything a De Smet student needs for school: MySparta.

Officially released on Sept. 16, MySparta offers various resources to both students and the public.  Faculty members John Hawkey and Kala O’Connor spearheaded the idea to build a more accessible place for the community to use the school’s resources.

“We want to be able to better communicate with the community,” Hawkey said. “It’s another way we can get everyone more involved in what we do.”

The school emailed students and faculty their account information.  Logging in will allow them to access more community-specific features.  The majority of the resources, including the school store, announcements, student handbook, and more, are available to all users.

“Several people in my class downloaded the app already,” freshman Trevor Tinker said. “We all thought it was pretty cool being able to have everything we need to know for school gathered into one place.”

MySparta is available as a free download through the Apple Store and Google Play.
